Claremont Tigers Win Reserves Grand Final!

After four strong quarters of football, the Claremont Reserves took out the 2018 Grand Final over the Peel Thunderbirds in a hard fought 69 point win!

Claremont Captain Angel Hayward kicked the first goal of the game, with Lolita Viska scoring a second to put the Tigers ahead early and hold their lead at the first break. From then onwards it was Claremont’s day, playing a strong team game with intensity and professionalism.

CWFC were extremely proud to see young recruit Amber Ugle-Hayward finish as ‘the most damaging forward of the afternoon’, awarded Best on Ground for her impressive match and consistency in the forward line.

“It was really intense and Peel gave it to us every second of the match,” she said after the game.

“It’s been amazing journey this entire season, we’ve all worked so hard this season and we’re certainly going to celebrate.”

Amber started with CWFC as a Rogers Cup player and has a very promising football future ahead, congratulations Amber!

Congratulations also to the entire Reserves side who played in the Grand Final, and to all our Reserves and League players and coaches on a huge season! That CFWC were able to put forward two extremely strong teams in 2018 is testament to the quality of football being played at the Club, the efforts of all Coaching and support staff and the determination of our talented players.

We are also extremely proud of our Rogers Cup team on their efforts this season, and look forward to watching them follow in the footsteps of their fellow Roger’s Cup ‘graduates’ in Amber Ugle-Hayward (Reserves BoG), Jasmin Stewart (AFLW) and Tildi Sargent (AFLW).

We look forward to seeing you all again in 2019!
